June 25th Mini - This shortened version of the two-day basic plan review class looks at the responsibilities provided the authority having jurisdiction as it relates to the review of fire alarm systems. Requirements for fire alarm plan review are found in the International Fire Code, 2015 edition, which references NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code. Attendees will learn the difference between the requirements for automatic and manual fire alarm systems which are based on use groups and other factors, and when monitoring of fire protection systems must occur. Attendees will be given an overview of basic fire alarm system plans, specifications, and calculations submittal requirements and an overall layout of NFPA 72
July 23rd Mini - 2015 IFC Essentials
This seminar will introduce the application of the International Fire Code administrative requirements, occupancy classification, general precautions against fire, emergency planning and preparedness, fire service features, interior finish, decorative materials and furnishings, fire protection systems, means of egress, and provide an introduction to hazardous materials. Activities and discussions will further enhance participant learning.
Course Objectives: Identify how the IFC addresses hazardous materials, Explain the fundamental provisions of the IFC, Describe the intent and scope of the IFC, Identify common fire hazards and understand how the IFC addresses correction, or elimination, of the hazards, Identify how life safety and fire protection issues are addressed in building design and construction, Identify how the IFC applies to maintenance of building design and components to maintain fire and life safety
